Handgun Qualification License (HQL) training class

This training class is for anyone needing a Handgun Qualification License in Maryland, to be able to take possession of a regulated firearm. This class is approximately 4 hours long and will include an overview of State Firearm Law, the 8 Basic Rules of Firearm Safety, Home Firearm Safety, Firearm Transportation Safety, Range Safety, Storage Safety, Nomenclature, Cleaning and Maintenance, Sight Alignment/Sight Picture, Elements of Firing an Accurate Shot, and Live-Fire Range Exercises. A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to participating students upon completion of the training class. This training class is open to anyone not legally disqualified from being in possession of, or contact with, firearms or ammunition. Everything required for this training class will be provided including printed material, and use of firearm(s) and ammunition.

Active duty law enforcement, active duty military, retired law enforcement, retired military, honorably discharged military, and anyone owning a regulated firearm in Maryland prior to 01 October 2013 are TRAINING EXEMPT for the HQL.

The cost of this training class is $75.00 per person payable by cash, check, or money order. Pre-registration is highly recommened but not absolutely necessary. Walk-ins will be accomodated the day of the class, but NOT after 0830.
